Maybe its because I have been in the prank call business for so long that I’ve just developed my sense of humor and timing to the point that I can break off the hilarity at just about anytime! Before I go on to explain how I prank call, let’s get a couple of things out of the way real quick.
First, you need to decide who you are going to be prank calling because you are going to have to go about things differently if you are calling a stranger than you would if you are calling your mom or your best friend. Oh, and by the way, if right now you’re thinking that there’s no good way to prank call people that you already know, let me slap you upside the head because you are thinking like an amateur.
Funny prank calls require planning and preparation in order for the joke to go off properly. Obviously, I am probably not telling you anything that you do not know. But did you realize that serious prank callers use a tool box to make their prank calls extra hilarious? You may not have realized this, but I will get to it in a minute.
So, let’s say that you decide that you want to prank call a stranger. Well, in that case in order to prank call like a pro you will need to decide on a bit, or prank, to play on your target. There are many different pranks that you can play and I have mentioned some prank call ideas on another post. So once you have a rough outline of how you want the prank to go then who do you call. I like to use google to help me find phone numbers to prank. Seeing as I like to make prank calls at night, I have limited options as to who to call. I can’t just call up any old business or person at midnight because chances are they are closed or asleep. So, I think about who might be up and willing to be the butt of my seriously hilarious joke. I usually simply go to google and type in type in my city and a business category like hotels or bailbonds. Google will then pull up a list of phone numbers and there ya go I have a list of businesses that will be open at midnight that I can call up and crack a joke on their ass!
But, things get a little different if you want to spoof your friends and family. This is where prank calling becomes more of an art and less of a science and where the tool box that I talked about earlier comes into play. In order to successfully prank call people that you know you are going to have to use the jokester’s toolbox. I recommend Bluff My Call and I will tell you why in a minute. The first thing we have to go over is why you need a prank call toolbox. First, let’s say you want to make funny prank calls to people that you know. Well, you are going to run into problems. Obviously (unless you are calling a person on a land line without caller ID) they are going to be able to tell that its you on the phone. Oh sure you could use *67 but then your number will either come up PRIVATE or with the information withheld. Either way that is pretty fishy when you are making a prank call. You want the call to start out as normally as possible. You don’t want to raise your target’s suspicion that they might be the target of a prank phone call.
And there are other problems as well. If you are calling someone you know they are going to be familiar with more than just your phone number. They are going to know your voice as well. So, how well can a crank call go if you are sitting there trying to lay out the trap and you are also trying like hell to disguise your voice. I think you can see now why I recommend the toolbox. Of course, if you just want to know how to prank call a stranger then you might not need the tools I am mentioning.
